Sheridan HS Softball: The Sheridan High School softball team hit a combined 8 home runs, including 1 inside the park, in both of their home wins yesterday vs. Worland.

Final scores were 11-1 and 14-2.

The Lady Broncs are home again today for another double-header vs. Jackson, beginning at 2 and 4pm.

There’s one more home double-header after that, and that is on Monday, as Sheridan takes on defending state champ Campbell County.

Sheridan/Johnson County HS Soccer: Sheridan concludes the regular season today against Thunder Basin.

The boys game is at home and the winner gets the #1 seed for next weekend’s 4A East Regional Tournament.

The Broncs can also get the #1 seed with a tie, and that #1 seed includes a first round bye and an automatic bid into the state tournament.

The girls game is on the road, and Sheridan is already locked into the #3 seed, regardless of today’s outcome.

Both of today’s games are scheduled to begin at 6pm.

The Buffalo girls play today at Newcastle.

There is no boys game, because the Dogies don’t have a team this season.

Both the Bison and Lady Bison are scheduled to play at home tomorrow vs. Torrington, starting at 12-noon.

Bighorn Mountain Cup Soccer: A lot of soccer will be played in Sheridan County this weekend.

Tomorrow and Sunday is the annual Sheridan County Soccer Association Bighorn Mountain Cup at the Bighorn Equestrian Center.

Competition starts as early as 8am both days.

About 133 teams with ages ranging from elementary school to 15 years old will be participating.

For those traveling to and from the Equestrian Center, County Road 28, or Bird Farm Road, may be closed to northbound traffic during some of the morning hours on both days, so that motorists traveling to the event have an easier time getting in.

Sheridan/Johnson County HS Track and Field: Sheridan, Big Horn, Tongue River and Buffalo are all scheduled to compete today at Campbell County.

Kaycee is hosting a meet and Arvada-Clearmont is also participating.

This meet is rescheduled from a few weeks ago, when the weather decided to interfere.

Next weekend are the regional meets.

Sheridan Mavericks/Lady Mavericks Lacrosse: The Sheridan Mavericks passed a big test this past Saturday and the team prevailed in a 17-16 score-fest against Cody.

The boys played 2 games that day.

First they defeated Cheyenne, then due to a shortage of officials, Sheridan only had 40 minutes of rest, instead of the normal 2 hours to get ready for their second game.

Head Coach Jon Bongiorno says there were concerns about fatigue in that second game, but he’s pleased with how the boys stuck to the plan and endured.

The Mavericks and Cody are scheduled to rematch today at Cody, beginning at 6:30pm.

Sheridan will stay overnight and then take on the Bozeman JV team tomorrow at 9am.

The Lady Mavericks are in Jackson to play a pair of games tomorrow.

Next weekend is the Montana High School Lacrosse League Championship Tournament in Bozeman.

Sheridan Troopers Legion Baseball: The Sheridan Troopers are scheduled to play 2 tomorrow at home vs. defending A-League State Champ Lovell.

First pitches are at 12-noon and 2pm.

You can watch the games LIVE on Sheridan Media TV, which is on the front page of the Sheridan Media website.

James Timberlake will have the radio play-by-play call on AM 1410 KWYO and 106.9 FM.

Colorado Rockies Baseball: The Colorado Rockies avoided the sweep yesterday, by winning at home against the New York Mets 6-2.

Jake McCarthy had himself a game with 5 RBI’s and a grand slam.

The Rocks start a 6-game road trip today, with the first of 3 games at Philadelphia.

First pitch is scheduled for 4:40pm.

Tomorrow’s game is scheduled to begin at 4:05pm and Sunday’s game at 11:35am

Colorado Avalanche Hockey/NHL Playoffs: The Colorado Avalanche are scheduled to play Game 3 of the second round best of 7 series tomorrow at Minnesota.

The puck drops at 7pm and the Avs lead the series 2-games to none.

There was one playoff game last night.

Carolina won Game 3 at Philadelphia 4-1 to take a 3-nothing lead in that series.

NBA Playoffs: Oklahoma City won at home last night against the LA Lakers 125-107, and Detroit won at home vs. Cleveland 107-97.

Both the Thunder and Pistons lead their respective series 2-nothing.
