Morning Sports: August 26, 2026

Big Horn HS Football: The Big Horn High School Football team has been to the 2A State Championship Game in each of their previous 4 seasons, and this year’s team plans to make it 5.

The Rams went 10-1 last year, losing in the state championship game, but they have one of the leading rushers in the state back, as well as an offensive lineman that has given a verbal commitment to the University of Wyoming.

Head Coach Kirk McLaughlin says this year’s senior class has a lot of experience, because some players got a lot of playing time with the reserves and now the new upperclassmen want to give the new underclassmen the same opportunities that they had in varsity games. 

The Rams host Cody for a scrimmage this coming Friday, beginning at 6pm.

Next week, BH plays an exhibition game against Pine Bluffs, who is a 9-man team.

That game will be played in Wheatland.

The first actual game is not until Thursday, September 10th at home vs. Tongue River.

Tongue River HS Football: The Eagles are looking to get back to the post season after a 2 year absence.

The one thing the team does not have this year is a lot of senior players, in fact there’s only 3.

Head Coach Steve Hanson says overall numbers on the team are up this year, and so is experience from the returning underclassman, which could make up for some things.

Tongue River will take on Pinedale this coming Friday in a neutral site contest in Riverton.

Kickoff is scheduled for 2pm.

Colorado Rockies Baseball: The Colorado Rockies snapped their 7-game skid, with a 3-1 win last night at Washington.

Hunter Goodman got the scoring started with a solo home run.

The Rocks and Nationals are scheduled to play each other again today, starting at 4:45pm.
