New Pathway From Ranchester To Dayton Under Construction
What’s been on the drawing board for years is starting to become concrete.
About two weeks ago, the first pour was done on what will be a new pathway trail along US Highway 14 between Ranchester and Dayton.
Work is currently being done on the first 8-tenths of a mile from Ranchester westward to Echo Drive, which is on the southwest edge of the Ranchester town limits.
For those traveling from Ranchester to Dayton, the pathway would be to the right of the highway.
Ranchester Mayor Peter Clark says the town recently set up a 501-c-3 pathway committee, which is doing fundraising to set up an endowment for long term maintenance of the pathway.
“Our pathway also has to be basically plowed in the winters, maintained. It has to be usable year round according to federal guidelines, so that makes it a challenge. Everything we looked at from an economic point and from quality of life issues and all that stuff, it indicates it’s a good investment for the community and for the valley.”
Mayor Clark adds that work on the pathway is being done in five phases and there is no timeline as to when work on the next phase will start or when the entire project will be completed.

And since the smart voters of Dayton have refused to pay for “One-Vote-Pete’s” boondoggle; the path will be ending halfway between the two towns.
A true “Path to Nowhere.”
Unless of course the citizens of Ranchester fund the entire path and all up-keep, forever.
Wouldn’t want to live in Ranchester and have that lifetime expense hanging around my neck.
Have our electeds learned nothing from the Brooks Street Fiasco?

You are a little misinformed on how this project is funded and maintained. Please attend our next meeting in Ranchester Monday the 20th at Ranchester town hall to get better informed about this project before you interject false information. Thank you and look forward to seeing you at our meeting. Keith Reichert

So you are denying that Dayton wisely rejected funding this “Path to Nowhere?”
And a maintenance project that lasts forever, doesn’t sound like a good idea.

George Carlin once said that Liberals think the only thing wrong with the world is… there aren’t enough bike paths.

This is the kind of wasteful spending that happens when politicians get their hands on too much of our money.
We need to strictly limit the amount of our money we let them take from us.
Luckily we can do that next year by voting Against re-imposing the 1% excess sales tax.
Mark your calendars: High-tax liberation day is 3 Nov. 2026!
