A project that has been worked on for the past 5 years to make the Sheridan YMCA bigger is nearing the end.
As part of add-ons and renovations to the YMCA building, the old pool areas have since been filled, the old locker rooms demolished, and now the cardio equipment has been moved to where the pool used to be.
The $22 million Community Aquatic Center opened back in February of 2020.
Projects currently being worked on include turning the old drop in childcare center into a yoga room, and turning the old yoga room into a nap room.
Liz Cassiday is the Executive Director of the Sheridan YMCA.
She says all the work has made it easier for people to get around the facility, especially for those who don’t visit often.
“As a new member with a 105,000 square foot facility, you don’t get lost. You can kind of find zones of if I want to weight lift and do cardio, I’m not going to go through pre-school to get there, or just that maze of a huge building. The repurposing allows us to really get people better way finding skills.”
Cassiday adds she anticipates all the work will be done by next summer.

Why can’t a deputy from sheriff’s department or police be on guard at one pool per week just for x offenders to use the pool at the why. And if this can’t be done then remove the taxes that are on our homes.
