Education is a valuable commodity. Just as are: energy, food and housing. They all have a cost attached. But only the cost of education has been socialized.
When you buy gas, food or pay the rent or mortgage; YOU pay for them personally and directly. You get exactly what you want and have complete control over your spending.
However education is funded thru taxes and we have ZERO control of taxes. And those taxes are spent by legislators, not directly by us.
So why not separate School and State! Pay for your kid’s tuition directly, (just like college) and thereby control the cost and get exactly the type of education you want.
School choice, just like food, housing and energy would be abundant and the costs could be controlled by the end-user.
School competition would break the iron-clad union hold on our education system and produce better schools at lower cost.
In short, lets reject socialized school funding/control and infuse the free-market to drive down costs and drive UP quality.
The free market is the most successful engine of GOOD ever invented by man.
We should use it to return to educational greatness.
We were #1 in the world in education before the Fed Dept of Ed. Today we are #40.
Tells you all you need to know, huh!
