SCSD#3 Board Hears Presentation on Summer School
SCSD#3 Board met on Wednesday, July 9, with a light agenda.
One community member, Amy Rowe, addressed the board with a concern about the school library.
She added that she might be a little bit bias, because she loves to read, but she felt the library in the school was important to the students.
Alicia Auzqui, 2nd Grade teacher and Title I Elementary, and Adam Georgeson, 7-12 Special Education, gave a report to the board about summer school, saying that the students who attended made progress which will help them when coming back to school in the fall.
The board approved the mill levy for the school, and the revised budget for the upcoming year. They also approved the resignation of Mike Guyer as transportation director. Due to the fact that only three board members were present, hiring of the new transportation director was tabled until the August meeting.
Also tabled was the progress on selling the Arvada School Property. “We have a couple of options,” Chairman Karis Prusak said.
In community engagement, there will be a One-Claw House Party on Thursday, August 14, from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Everyone is invited to meet the teachers, connect with the community, and witness the 7th grade and elementary students get sorted into their new houses.

The A/C School House System (Six Houses, One Claw) is designed to build unity, inspire character, and foster healthy competition. It connects students across grade levels and backgrounds into six distinct houses. Each house has its own identity, values and legacy. Recently added to the system are the elementary students as well.
