Morning Sports: August 24, 2026
Classes at school started either last week, today or tomorrow, and those high school fall sports that have not started competition, will do so this week.
Sheridan HS Football: The Sheridan High School football team will start their quest for a 6th consecutive state championship this coming Friday at Rock Springs.
The Broncs have won 55 games in a row, which is the 2nd longest active winning streak in the country.
That 55 also includes a 20-game road win streak, which is tied for 3rd longest in state history.
Kickoff is scheduled for 6pm.
Rock Springs went 1-8 last year and missed the playoffs.
Big Horn/Tongue River/Buffalo HS Football: Non 4A teams will also be in action this coming weekend, but it may just be a scrimmage, or something less serious.
Big Horn is at home vs. Cody on Friday beginning at 6pm.
Tongue River will travel to Riverton to take on Pinedale in a neutral site matchup.
Buffalo is at home vs. Lovell on Saturday.
Sheridan/Johnson County HS Volleyball: The High School Volleyball season is scheduled to begin this weekend.
Sheridan will be at the Cheyenne Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
Big Horn as well as Buffalo are at Douglas, while Tongue River is at Lander.
Opponents and start times for those games are to be announced.
According to their schedules, Arvada-Clearmont and Kaycee will not start their seasons until next weekend.
Sheridan/Johnson County HS Cross Country: All Sheridan and Johnson County teams will run on Friday.
Sheridan is running at Casper, while Big Horn, Tongue River and Buffalo will compete at Billings.
Sheridan/Buffalo HS Swimming: Sheridan is scheduled on Friday and Saturday to compete at a 2-day meet in Laramie, while Buffalo is at Rawlins those same 2 days.
Sheridan/Johnson County HS Golf: The Sheridan boys and girls golf teams each placed 6th at the Casper Invitational this past weekend.
Hannah Barnes was 3rd for the girls individually.
Addison Bettinger won the girls portion of the Worland Invitational to help the Lady Bison finish 3rd.
Easton Lewis of Tongue River won at the Sundance Invitational.
BH and TR are scheduled to host a meet on Friday at Kendrick Golf Course.
Sheridan HS Tennis: Not all of the results have come in from Sheridan’s contests on Friday at Casper, but both the boys and girls won duals on Saturday at Laramie.

The Broncs and Lady Broncs are on the road again this weekend with matches on Friday at Jackson and on Saturday at Powell and Cody.
Denver Broncos Pre-Season Fooball: The Denver Broncos lost at home in a pre-season game vs. Green Bay this past Friday 33-13.
The Broncos used 3 quarterbacks in the game.
Bo Nix was 6 of 9 passing for 76 yards and threw 1 touchdown to RJ Harvey.
Jarrett Stidham was 9 of 15 for 82 yards with 1 interception.
Sam Ehlinger was 2 for 2 for 10 yards, but was sacked twice.
Will Lutz kicked 2 field goals including a 53 yarder.
Denver only produced 70 yards on the ground and the defense had a little trouble as well, because the Packers were 7 of 14 on 3rd down conversions.
The Broncos are scheduled to play their final pre-season game this coming Friday at home vs. Minnesota.
Teams have to cut their rosters down to 53 players by 4pm Mountain Time, this coming Sunday.
Colorado Rockies Baseball: The Colorado Rockies lost all 3 games at home vs. Cleveland this past weekend.
Friday’s score was 9-1.
Saturday’s score was 4-3.
Mickey Moniak and Connor Norby each hit solo home runs for the cause, but the comeback came up short.
The final score yesterday was 7-2.
The Rocks start a 7-game road trip today, with the first of 4 at Washington.
First pitch is scheduled for 4:45pm.
