The Clearmont Town Council, at their Monday, March 18 meeting, heard a brief presentation on the waterline replacement and paving from Eric Holifield with Engineering Associates. He showed the council a map with ideas for paving.

He added that much of what they would do would depend on the funding available for the project.

Clerk Kirstie Auzqui, reported that the town is coming in under budget on their budget items for the past month.

Mayor Chris Schock reported on the WAM Conference,

He also talked about his visit to Cheyenne.

He also said that, although he didn’t hear that it went to the governor yet, the wording in the public officer training requirements was amended to read ‘recommended’ instead of required.

He also talked about the Capital Facilities tax, which will be on the ballot in November, and he said it was a tax that everyone, even tourists, pay. “It is a smart tax for us,” he said.

Auzqui said that the WAM Conference and the Public Officer Training was invaluable to her. She encouraged the council members to do the training as well.

The council voted to accept a bid of $21,000 from Peak Powersports for a used 2022 Polaris Ranger XP1000, with 3500 miles and still some warranty on it.

The board moved to go into executive session to discuss personnel. Upon resuming the regular meeting the board voted to hire Kay Qualm as town treasurer, a 15-hour a week position.

The meeting was then adjourned and then the caucus meeting opened to fill two 2-year team positions, Kaelan Haring and Jay Buhr, on the council. Greg Rohrer acted as chair for the caucus, and Kaelan Haring and Jay Buhr were re-nominated for the open positions. The election will be held on May 7, with swearing in at the May Council Meeting.
