Anna Buckingham
Funeral services for Anna Buckingham, 84-year-old Buffalo resident who passed away Monday, April 6, will be held on Friday, April 17th at 2:00 p.m. at the Harness Funeral Home Chapel in Buffalo with Pastor Paul Gilbert officiating. Interment will be in Willow Grove Cemetery with graveside committal service to immediately follow the funeral. Donations in Anna’s memory may be made to the Grace Fellowship Building Fund at 108 N. Anna Eunice Buckingham was born on May 27, 1941, in Buffalo, Wyoming, the sixth child of H.F. “Swede” and Lydia Jacobson. She attended school in Buffalo and graduated from Johnson County High School with the class of 1959. In 1961, she married John Buckingham and they made their home in Buffalo. Anna later earned her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from the University of Northern Colorado. In 1964, Anna and John returned to Buffalo, where she taught kindergarten, third grade, and fourth grade at Buffalo Grade School. In the mid-1970s, Anna went to work as the office manager for Buckingham Lumber, where she remained until her retirement. John passed away in July of 2018, and Anna continued living in Buffalo until her death.
Anna was very active in the community. Among her volunteer activities were, Friends of the Library, YMCA first Board of Directors, Johnson County Theatre Guild, Friends and Blends Productions, Susie Bowling Lawrence Hospice, Habitat for Humanity, Christian Women’s Club, Empower Wyoming, and many church activities including pianist, organist, teacher and Librarian. She and John hosted foreign exchange students and were also foster parents. Anna dearly loved children, and that love was evident in her longtime support of Learning Tree Christian School. She served on the Board of Directors and volunteered in the classroom for many years, where she was affectionately known as “Miss Anna.”
She is survived by 2 brothers, David Jacobson and his wife Dorinda of Casper and H.L. “Jake” Butch Jacobson and his wife Susan of San Antonio, Texas; 2 sisters, Gladys Larson of Buffalo, Wyoming, and Carol Mueller and her husband Tom of Buckeye, Arizona; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews, and her godchildren, Vivianne and Orion Ostheimer of Buffalo. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and two sisters.
