Susan Kay Fleury

It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our mother, sister, grandmother, and aunt, Susan Kay Fleury (Adsit). At the age of 69, she passed away on July 17, 2026, joining her husband and the family who went before her. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Susan was born on September 7, 1956, in Sheridan, Wyoming, to Robert Adsit and Darlene Adsit (Fleming). She attended grade school in Casper, Wyoming, before moving back to Sheridan with her family. The loss of her mother at a very young age was a difficult time for the whole family. During her high school years, Susan lived with her grandmother (Alice Adsit)—a special season of her life that she carried with her always and one that helped shape the strong, independent woman she became. While attending school, she worked as a nurse’s aide and at the Children’s Center. She graduated from Sheridan High School with the Class of 1974–1975.

Following high school, Susan married the love of her life, Thomas Fleury, on November 19, 1976, in Sheridan, Wyoming. Together, they welcomed two children: Cheynoah Dawn Fleury, born December 9, 1977, and Thomas John “TJ” Fleury Jr., born January 20, 1981.

The family resided in Gillette, Wyoming, for 37 years, where Thomas worked at Kissack Water and Oil Service. Tom was a very hardworking and dedicated husband and father. Tom was loved by the entire family, and his sudden death was a shock and grief that the family tried to navigate through — incredible difficult time. Susan was a dedicated homemaker who fiercely loved her family, volunteered for school activities, and supported her children’s classes. She was known simply as a loving person who made everyone feel welcomed and loved.

Susan was fiercely independent, rarely asking for help, and preferring instead to be the one showing up for others. She had a kind heart and always sought to make things right, later in life making peace and amends with family members.

She had a vibrant spirit and a passion for dancing—especially the jitterbug. She never missed a chance to hit the dance floor and would happily dance all night. Susan also enjoyed listening to country music and dancing along with crafts, gardening, traveling, camping, cooking, and watching movies. She loved celebrating the holidays with family and friends and looked forward to shopping trips to Billings, Montana, always on the hunt for the perfect gift. A very memorable family highlight was a private tour of the White House and Washington D.C, while T.J. was stationed in D.C.– many cherished memories were shared for a whole week!! Above all, Susan’s family was her entire life. She was immensely proud of her son, TJ (Thomas John), and all of his accomplishments-especially his military service in the Army. She was equally proud of her daughter, Cheynoah, for her talent behind the camera and for the strength she showed as a devoted single parent. Susan was overjoyed to become a grandmother to Jason, believing with all her heart that her handsome grandson belonged on a magazine cover.

Susan was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas Fleury; her parents, Robert and Darlene Adsit; her grandmother, Alice Adsit; and her beloved uncle, George Adsit, and aunt, Flora Mae.

She is survived and lovingly remembered by her children, Cheynoah and TJ; her grandson Jason Rodrick; her sister Linda Lewallen (Andy); her brother, Ronald “Ronnie” Adsit (Chris); lifelong friend Kristine Adams; and many extended family members and friends.

Susan will forever be remembered for her kindness, her independence, her love of dancing, and the profound love she had for her family.

Graveside services will be held Friday the 24th, at 3:00 at Municipal Cemetery.

Reception will follow at Champion Kane Funeral Home Reception Hall.
