William “Bill” Lee Miller
William “Bill” Lee Miller of Dayton, WY, passed away surrounded by family on July 15, 2026. Bill was born on January 27, 1943, in Sheridan, WY, to William Earle and Mayme Miller. Bill was raised on the family ranch in Lodge Grass, MT.
Bill married the love of his life, Mary O’Brien, in 1962. They raised their three children, Kelly, Billy, and Robert, on the ranch. In 2005 the ranch was sold, and Bill and Mary made their home in Dayton, WY.
Bill enjoyed fishing and hunting with family and friends. One of Bill’s life passions was firefighting. For more than 35 years, he served Lodge Grass and Big Horn County, MT, as a firefighter and first responder. He spent countless hours getting donations, educating firefighters, communities, and local governments on the needs of essential firefighting equipment and training. Bringing local ranchers in to assist in fighting fires while staying in contact with fire departments.
Preceded in death by wife of 53 years Mary Miller, parents William Earle and Mayme Miller, sisters Laura Ruth (Chuck) McGlothlin and Marian Miller, daughter Kelly Riley, and grandson Wayne Todd.
Survived by son William Earle (Brandi) Miller of Telford, TN, son Robert (Shannon) Miller of Ranchester, WY, grandchildren William Austin (Annabelle) Miller, Madison (Reece) Fain, Isaiah Miller, Derrek Miller, Ryder Miller, Claire Whipple, Kylee Whipple, Clarissa (Justin) Smith, Jacob Ripley, and great grandchildren Alora Jean Fain and William Earle Miller, and many family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lodge Grass Volunteer Fire Dept, Tongue River Fire District, or Dayton Fire and Rescue.
