Dixie Johnson

Dixie Suzanne Daley Johnson passed away peacefully on June 26, 2026, surrounded by those she deeply loved. She was a devoted wife to Mick, loving mother to Courtney and Rob, and an incredibly proud grandma who adored her grandsons Michael, Sammy, and Brody more than anything in the world.

Dixie had a way of making life feel warm and simple. She loved her family and friends deeply and showed it every day, not just in the big moments, but in the quiet, steady ways that matter most. She was the kind of person you could count on, whether you needed a laugh, a listening ear, or just someone to sit with. She found joy in adventure and in the simple pleasures of life. She loved the outdoors, competing in a round of golf, and ending the day with a cold beer in hand with the people she cared about close by. Those moments were where she was happiest.

Dixie’s love for Sheridan ran deep. Through her work as CEO of the Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce, she poured her heart into supporting local businesses, building relationships, and helping the community grow. Dixie was known as a connector and had an innate ability to see the best in people. She was a leader who stood shoulder-to-shoulder with her team and prided herself in leading by example. Colleagues often noted that her quiet confidence was contagious, and that simply having Dixie in the room made everyone feel braver and more capable of handling any challenge.

Dixie, the youngest of eight children, was born and raised in Sheridan, Wyoming. Her early years shaped her most admired traits: resiliency, tenacity, competitiveness, and a strong work ethic. She carried these qualities, and her deep care for others, into every aspect of her life. In 1985, she met Mick, the love of her life, during a night out at the Wells Fargo bar in Sheridan, where Mick’s band was playing. The next day, they had their first date at the bowling alley. They bowled so many games that Mick had trouble holding his guitar pick at that night’s gig. It was a simple beginning, but it marked the start of 40 beautiful years together.

Dixie is survived by her husband, Mick; her daughter, Courtney Bullock (Austin); her son, Rob Johnson (Emma); her cherished grandchildren, Michael Johnson, Sammy Johnson, and Brody Bullock; her siblings, Chuck Wells (Nancy), Whitey Wells (Karen), John Daley, Deanna Daley Rives (Wade), and Mike Daley (Bev); countless cousins, nieces, nephews and a community of friends and colleagues whose lives she profoundly shaped. She was preceded in death by her father, John William Daley; her mother Sylvia Jean Carroll Daley; and her brothers Dean Wells and Mark Wells.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Kinnison Hall – Whitney Center for the Arts at Sheridan College on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, Dixie requested all donations be made to the Sheridan County Chamber Foundation FBO the Leadership Sheridan County program, or that you honor her memory by connecting with someone in your community and holding your family close.
