Patricia Lee Holst
Patricia Lee Holst was born April 30, 1931, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Ed and Lois Creech. She passed peacefully at Westview Healthcare Center in Sheridan, Wyoming, on December 19, 2025.
She graduated with her teaching degree from Colorado College in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and taught elementary school for over 30 years in a variety of grade levels. Patti loved children of all ages and loved teaching them, showing them how to learn and try new activities.
She loved her family and children, as evidenced by her selfless care of a large blended family, becoming a cherished friend to her in-laws, grabbing whatever chance she was given with her grandchildren, and being the sole caretaker of her parents.
Patti loved writing. She created a newsletter to keep everyone up to date on family happenings, made scrapbooks to celebrate different holidays, wrote stories about her various family dogs, and created a Family History Book for each of her children. It could be said she was one of the pioneers in her family of DIY birthday cards and gifts. She was the family photographer, and thankfully, because of her persistence in this endeavor, her family enjoys many years of memories.
She was an avid gardener and could make anything grow, from vegetables to flowers, even in the harsh climate of Colorado. Her yard in Idaho was a masterpiece of lilies, roses, columbine, tomatoes, and berries.
She was quite the outdoorswoman, enjoying everything from camping to backpacking with her family, including hiking all the way down and back up the Grand Canyon. She loved exploring trails all over the United States.
Patti loved the Lord as well. She cherished volunteering in the various women’s ministries at the different churches she and Dale attended over the years. She loved finding ways to help families less fortunate.
Adventurous, an outdoorswoman, advocate for the less fortunate and lost, cook for a large family, always willing to try new things, be creative, grab life by the horns, and give it all she had.
Patti was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Lois Creech; her brother, Eddie Creech; her husband, Dale L. Holst; and her youngest son, Patrick M. Holst.
She is survived by her children, Ray Caesar and his wife Janet; Mike Holst and his wife Linda; Susan Ward and her husband Michael; Stephen Holst and his wife Kathy; and Linda Wilson.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Kendra Martin, Kevin Holst, John Holst, Rachael Nakano, Daniel Holst, Emily Baquedano, and Walt Wilson; and 16 great-grandchildren.
