Wyoming Supreme Court Enforces AG’s Subpoena Against WyoLaw, LLC
The Wyoming Supreme Court recently enforced a civil investigative subpoena issued by the Wyoming Attorney General to purported debt relief company, WyoLaw. The Attorney General issued this subpoena to the Wyoming-registered entity after receiving consumer complaints alleging that WyoLaw had failed to provide promised legal debt settlement services to its consumers after accepting advance payment for the work. Seeking to investigate these complaints, the Attorney General issued a subpoena to the company in late 2019. Challenging the Attorney General’s subpoena authority, WyoLaw unsuccessfully petitioned the Natrona County District Court to invalidate this subpoena. After failing at the district court level, WyoLaw appealed the decision to the Wyoming Supreme Court.
In affirming the district court’s decision, the Wyoming Supreme Court acknowledged the Attorney General’s “extremely broad” investigative authority to “request records and undertake other investigatory functions.” Included in this broad authority, is the ability to investigate complaints “that originate outside Wyoming.”
The Wyoming Supreme Court also declined to exempt WyoLaw from coverage under the Consumer Protection Act due to its purported status as a law firm. In rejecting this challenge to the Attorney General’s authority, it stated, “[t]he record before us does not establish that WyoLaw operates as a law firm, but even if it did, the [Wyoming Consumer Protection Act] does not exempt its operations from coverage under the Act.”

After 4 years of payments, my relative has had a portion of 1 of 3 credit cards paid. She does not get statements of her accounts and when she calls, does not get answers. I am really questioning their practices and the legality of them. I went on the Better Business Bureau pages and found similar complaints. I am hoping that the Wyoming State Auditor will do an audit and hire a private accounting firm (or the auditor’s office) to straighten out their records and perform the activities that Wyolaw, LLC should have been doing. After getting a balance on one of her cards, my relative said that she wanted to get out of their program and was told that they would garnish her wages.
If there is a class action suit, I am sure that my relative would be interested.

I am going through exactly what Joe Gibbs reported about his relative, almost to the letter. I am almost through with my 4 year program, thousands of dollars sent to Wyolaw, one debt settled, now one is in litigation and the response from Wyolaw is lip-service at best. I would like to help with any legal action against this company and look forward to working on my own to resolve my oustanding debt.

How do I go after these people? They took over 10k from me and never settled my debts. Made zero payment on my behalf. Just stole my money.
