There was one recognition at the SCSD#2 Board of Trustees meeting held on Monday, July 13. Kyle Warnke, activities director, introduced the Wyoming Coaches Association Spring 2026 4A Boys Outdoor Track Coach of the Year, Taylor Kelting.

Several board members spoke about Coach Kelting and how he did so much for the track program at SHS.

Kelting said a few words about working in SCSD#1

In her superintendent’s report, new SCSD#2 Superintendent Rebecca Adsit talked about some of what’s been going on in SCSD#2 this summer.

She added that there were several high school students enrolled in summer school, as they didn’t master proficiency in their courses during the school year, and that elementary and junior high summer school will run in August.

She said that everyone was getting ready for the upcoming school year, which will begin in near the end of August.

Business manager Brandon Finney gave a report on the upcoming 2026-2027 budget, and how the school is working with the new funding model.

The board recessed for a public hearing on the budget. One community member, Melinda Abbott, expressed her concerns over the increase in activity funding.

It was brought up that there are more activities offered in the schools, and that many expenses that are associated with the activities, such as travel, have increased substantially over the years.

Trustee Doug Moore added about the school budget and the challenges that the school districts are facing due to the new state funding model.

The board voted to approve the budget as presented.

In other business, Troy Decker, faculties director, reported on several maintenance projects they were working on over the summer. He also updated the board on the renovations on the 5th Street Greenhouse, saying that the greenhouse was given to the school, and continues to be used by the students.

Next meeting will be held on Monday, August 3 at 6 p.m. at the Central Office.
