Water Safety Skills Workshop Set for Thursday
If you fish, float, paddle, swim, or simply spend time near the water, the Sheridan Community Land Trust (SCLT) and Sheridan Area Search and Rescue invite you to attend a free, hands-on Community Water Safety Skills Workshop on Thursday, July 16, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the SCLT Big Goose Natural Area, 14 Lane Lane, Sheridan.
The workshop will be taught by volunteers from Sheridan Area Search and Rescue and will cover how to recognize common water hazards and dangerous conditions, what to do if someone is in trouble, safe kayak and canoe basics, simple rescue techniques with live demonstrations in the creek, and how to properly fit and wear a life jacket. The workshop is free, family-friendly, and open to all ages. Advance registration is encouraged, though walk-ins are welcome.
This Discovery Session is presented by the Sheridan Community Land Trust in partnership with Sheridan Area Search and Rescue and is made possible through a grant from the Homer A. and Mildred S. Scott Foundation. Registration information is available here.
