Hunter Management Area Permission Slips: July 21
The Wyoming Game and Fish Department will begin accepting applications for Hunter Management Area (HMA) permission slips at 8 a.m. July 21.
Public Information Specialist Christina Schmidt said Hunter Management Areas are typically privately owned ranches that partner with the department to provide managed public hunting access.
Hunters must already possess the appropriate hunting license before applying and must obtain a printed permission slip to hunt an HMA.
Hunters can research HMAs in the state through the Game and Fish website by clicking on the public access tab at the top of our home page. Then click on the HMA tab. Hunters can view an interactive statewide map of HMAs and read more about each specific area. Each HMA has different rules and allows hunting for different species. Schmidt said hunters need to take time and carefully review the individual HMA Ranch Rules for information on the species that can be hunted, hunt areas within the HMA, number of permission slips available, when and how permission slips are allocated, as well as any other conditions of access. To access the HMA, hunters must be willing and able to abide by these rules.
