Chamber Seeking Questions from Public to Ask at Candidate Forums
The Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce will host a series of candidate forums ahead of Wyoming’s Aug. 18 primary election to give voters an opportunity to hear directly from candidates seeking local and state offices.
Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce Chief Executive Officer Teresa Detimore and Office Manager Stephen Dow made an appearance on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse asking the public to send questions they may wish to ask any candidate to Dow.
Detimore encouraged residents to get involved in the primary election by learning about the candidates and the offices they are seeking, saying informed voters play an important role in choosing the people who will represent the community.

Moderated forums will allow candidates to discuss their backgrounds and priorities and while audience questions will not be taken because of time constraints, the public can send any questions they would like to be addressed directly to Dow. During the events a Chamber moderator will ask the questions that have been compiled.

All forums open to the public. Sheridan Forums will be livestreamed and recorded and available later that week on the Chamber’s YouTube channel and website.

Good reason to vote in the Primary: If you don’t vote “NO” on adding a new “Senior district” all property taxes WILL go up by up to 2 mills.
They count on low voter turn-out, just as they did in August 2013, when they tried to raise property taxes, by sneaking in a “Bond-Issue” tax hike.
We stopped That Property Tax Hike by just 300 votes. Yikes!
Tell your friends to vote “NO” on the Proposed Property Tax Hike!
It’s listed at the end of the ballot, on the back side.
Don’t fall for, yet another, Sheridan Socialist Property Tax Hike.
We don’t “help” seniors by raising their taxes.

Mr. Fox, when you are done eliminating all taxes, I expect to see you at the County Courthouse each year with a generous check to ensure infrastructure (e.g. paved roads,etc.) and utilities (e.g. fresh water, etc.) are still supported. Your scare tactics are nothing more than that. You and the rest of the far, far right cronies are just as dangerous as the far left. By the way, I am a conservative Republican that exercises common sense, not radical ideals!

Thank-you for reading my post and sharing your concerns. The county and state have over-collected taxes for decades. The county has more than enough to fund ALL of our needs. In fact, they have so much extra cash that they chose to waste $3 million digging up a perfectly good road, (Brooks street) and building a very expensive “Monument to Gov’t excess” known as the Brooks St. Boondoggle.
The Board has blurred the line between “needs” and “wants” to our detriment. All I’m doing is suggesting they do a better job of prioritizing line items in the budget. And stop wasting hard-earned, tax-payer money on frivolities like $20,000 bunny statues.
Waste not want not.

Mr. Fox, you’ve painted a very broad stroke to assume our county has “extra cash.” Maybe you should look at Campbell County’s budget, make that comparison, and then see who has the extra cash. The difference is astonishing. As for the Brooks Street rebuild, that is an area we can agree on. It could have been cleaned up and made presentable at a much lower cost.
