2026 Wolf Creek Wrangle Will Be The Final One
Habitat for Humanity of the Eastern Bighorns Executive Director Christine Dieterich told listeners of Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse the 2026 Wolf Creek Wrangle will be the last one.
Entirely unique among trail runs, the Wolf Creek Wrangle has been a reflection of the human drive to survive, to test oneself against elements and ungroomed pathways rarely used by humans while pushing a runner to extreme levels.
Over the years and from all over the US, this challenge has brought extreme runners, hikers and outdoor enthusiasts together to support Habitat for Humanity of the Eastern Bighorns through a trail race on the Eaton’s Ranch.

Taking approximately six months to plan, the proceeds from the event help Habitat continue building and repairing affordable homes for local families throughout Sheridan and Johnson counties.
Dieterich said the decision to conclude the fundraiser was not made lightly. As a runner herself, the event has been Dieterich’s personal favorite fundraiser. But ultimately, she and her team decided the efforts to put on the race each year can be better used elsewhere.

The final Wolf Creek Wrangle, “Run the West” will be held on Sept 19. Registration is available online, click here. Participants can also find race details, course information and volunteer opportunities ahead of this year’s event. Sponsors are also still being accepted to be a part of this final event.
Dieterich said ideas for a replacement fundraiser are currently being discussed.
