Sheridan Man Changes Plea on a Number of Felony Charges

A change of plea hearing was held in Fourth Judicial District Court in Sheridan this week for 31-year-old Jerimiah Thompson-Musquiz. Pursuant to terms of a plea agreement reached with the State, Thompson-Musquiz pleaded guilty to four counts of felony burglary and one count of conspiracy to commit burglary. The burglary charges stem from his role in a string of storage unit burglaries in Sheridan County that occurred between February and mid April of this year. The plea deal recommends a sentence of 4 to 7 years in prison on each charge, and to run concurrent to one another.

Thompson-Musquiz also pleaded guilty to the charge Possession of a Controlled Substance With Intent to Deliver- Methamphetamine. The plea deal recommends 4 to 7 years in prison and to run concurrent to the sentences for the burglary charges. District Court Judge John Fenn reminded Thompson-Musquiz that the Court is not bound by the terms of the plea agreement, and may reject it altogether at sentencing.

Judge Fenn ordered that a presentence investigation be completed and set the sentencing for December 18 at 11:30 am. Judge Fenn, at a separate hearing on another matter, said that jury trials in District Court will proceed as scheduled. Judge Fenn had taken the matter under advisement late last week due to the recent rise in COVID-19 cases in Sheridan County.
