County EOC Gives Update on Vaccine Info
The Johnson County Emergency Operations Center issued a media release over the weekend, giving an update on the latest information concerning the COVID-19 vaccine.
Wyoming has received the first shipments of the Pfizer vaccine and has distributed it to the five hardest-hit counties.
The Wyoming Department of Health has allocated Moderna vaccine to Johnson County and other rural counties, due to the ability to direct ship the vaccine.
The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has recommended a tiered approach for COVID-19 vaccinations moving forward.
Phase 1a of the vaccination schedule will begin with healthcare providers, and is expected to begin in January.
There is a limited number of doses available so vaccines are not currently available for other groups or the general public as yet.
Public Health currently has no exact time when vaccinations can move to the next tiered steps, but they expect it will be months before the vaccine may be available to the general public.
They recommend the public continue to wear masks, maintain social distance, and to stay home if ill.
Johnson County Public Health will keep the public informed of when vaccine is available and the phases of their vaccine operations.
They will be advertising the vaccination status frequently with local media outlets, the public health Facebook page, Code Red system, and on the county website.
