Ron RichterAn arraignment hearing was held Tuesday in Fourth Judicial District Court in Sheridan for 63-year-old Gary Anderson who is charged with sexual abuse of a minor in the first degree. Anderson was arrested in May of this year for the alleged crime that occurred between July 11 and July 23 of 2021 when Anderson inflicted sexual intrusion on an 11-year-old victim.
Anderson, at Tuesday’s arraignment hearing, pleaded not guilty to the charge. District Court Judge Darci Phillips set the #3 stack three-day jury trial for November 7 and scheduled a pretrial conference for October 6 at 9 am. The #3 stack means there are two other jury trials scheduled for the same date.
Judge Phillips reimposed a $75,000 cash only bond that was set by Circuit Court Judge Shelley Cundiff during Anderson’s initial appearance. Anderson’s bond was temporarily modified by Cundiff to an unsecured bond so he could be treated for a medical condition in Billings, Montana. Anderson is now receiving treatment for his medical condition in Sheridan so the original bond was reinstated and he will be held at the Sheridan County Detention Center on the $75,000 cash only bond. The crime of sexual abuse of a minor in the first degree is punishable by not less than 25 years and no more than 50 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.
