Museum at the Bighorns Celebrate a Successful First Year at New Location
The Museum at the Bighorns is celebrating one year at its downtown Sheridan location after opening its lobby and museum store to the public on June 12, 2025.
Museum staff and board members marked the milestone by highlighting growth in attendance, community partnerships and educational programming. Operations Manager Chip King has played a critical role from the start of the relocation. King boxed up and moved the lion’s share of artifacts and displays. Through the hard hours of work King said although he was excited to get the relocation rolling, he missed seeing visitors.

Since opening at the new location, the museum has welcomed 6,130 visitors, hosted 400 youth program participants and provided 330 local school tours.
King attributed the first year’s success to many volunteers, a supportive board and his strong working relationship with Executive Director Carrie Edinger.
