The University of Wyoming’s Wyoming Geographic Information Science Center and Department of Ecosystem Science and Management have launched WyldFire, a new online platform designed to help Wyoming residents, landowners, utilities, emergency responders and communities better understand wildfire risk.

While appearing on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse, UW Director of Internal Communications Chad Baldwin said the platform came out of a new Wyoming State Law.

Rather than tracking active fires, the WyldFire platform allows users to analyze wildfire risk, compare locations, view burn probability data and generate custom reports for planning and mitigation efforts.

Baldwin said the platform will help support preparedness, long-term planning and wildfire resilience across Wyoming.
