Sheridan College is preparing its budget set for the new fiscal year

At last week’s meeting, the Board gave preliminary approval to an operating budget of almost $40.2 million, which includes a $227-thousand surplus, and the state apportionment for students in Gillette.

All full-time faculty that are on the pay scale will receive a step pay increase, while others will get either a 1-or-3 percent increase in salary.

College President Dr. Walter Tribley says the budget looks solid.

“The combination of appropriations this year at the state level by the legislators, and the Governor added some significant funding on the state side of our budget and together with the efficiencies that we have and our enrollment growth since 2019-2020, all are coming together to put us in strong fiscal shape. The budget is moving in the right direction, we have a little bit more revenue, we’re meeting our expenses fine. We’re in strong condition.”

Dr. Tribley adds the budget also includes money to move the new Sheridan College Johnson County building forward.

The Board is scheduled to give final approval to the budget at its next meeting on July 14th.
