Documentary on Hole-in-the-Wall a Part of Buffalo Celebration
As a part of the United States semiquincentennial on July 4, Buffalo will be having Red, White and West celebration. One feature of the event will be a free screening of a documentary about the Hole-in-the-Wall Country near Kaycee.
The Hole-in-the-Wall Documentary was produced by Big Horn Films in Cooperation with Johnson County Tourism. Toby Carrig, Johnson County Tourism Association Marketing Director, explained how the documentary came about.
This documentary chronicles the history of the scenic Hole in the Wall portion of Johnson County and includes a segment educating visitors on recreational opportunities in that beautiful part of the country. Learn from local experts about Butch Cassidy, Nate Champion, and others who passed through this remote area, which remains one of Johnson County’s special treasures.
It will be shown at the Buffalo Theater, 235 S. Main Street, just south of the downtown area. Seating is on a first come, first serve basis at the door. Carrig said they may open another theater if necessary.

He added more about the screening, as well as other screenings planned for the film.

There will be two opportunities to see the screening, the first at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, July 3. The second showing will be at noon on Saturday, July 4.
Carrig also mentioned the Hoofprints of the Past Museum tours around Kaycee. The Hole-in-the-Wall tour was recently held, but there are other tours that will be held this summer.
The Hole-in-the-Wall country was most famous as being the hide-out of Butch Cassidy and his Wild Bunch, when they rustled cattle, robbed banks and trains throughout several western states in the late 1800s.
