Volunteers Needed for Big Goose Natural Area Fence Removal Project

Published

on

The Sheridan Community Land Trust is seeking volunteers to help remove nearly 1.5 miles of old fence at the SCLT Big Goose Natural Area on Wednesday, July 8, beginning at 8 a.m.

The project will complete the removal of old fencing around the Big Goose Natural Area and move SCLT closer to its goal of removing or replacing all fencing on the property to wildlife-friendly standards. The effort supports wildlife movement, agricultural use, and ongoing stewardship of the community natural area.

Volunteers are welcome to participate for an hour or the entire day. SCLT will provide snacks, drinks, fencing pliers, post pullers, and equipment to assist with wire removal. Participants are encouraged to wear long pants, sturdy footwear, and leather gloves. Those with their own fencing tools are welcome to bring them, and volunteers planning to stay all day may wish to bring a lunch.

The event is free and open to all volunteers.
