Now that Wyoming Governor Gordon has ended the statewide Covid-19 Public Health Emergency, some things can go back to the way they were within the Northern Wyoming Community College District.
Recently the District’s Board of Directors removed emergency powers from President Doctor Walter Tribley.
Among the things he was allowed to do was make adjustments to the academic calendar, limit attendance at certain events, and enter the district into contracts for the purchase of equipment, supplies or services for needs directly related to the COVID-19 emergency situation, without having to call a special board meeting or wait until the next regular board meeting to get approval on such actions.
Dr. Tribley says the board is still getting updates on the pandemic at every regular board meeting, and is still meeting with the district’s incident management team, because although the health situation has improved, it’s not over.
“Nobody is saying the coronavirus has gone away, but we are ending that state of public health emergency and I think for me, my interpretation only, is that we are learning how to live with this and learning how to protect ourselves.”
Doctor Tribley adds that as people are becoming more health conscious, he has recently seen less absenteeism due to other illnesses such as a cold or the flu.

Wish we could get Basketball back, but the only way it ever will ever happen, is when Mr. Tribley leaves……… It cost Sheridan, in the form of the Gillette campus leaving, and that cost Sheridan College in many ways.
