cvannoyOn Thursday, April 6, Sheridan County Commissioner Christi Haswell visited the Clearmont Historical Center to see the improvements that had been made with the one-cent sales tax money that the group received.
The Clearmont Historical Group applied to the commissioners for a share of the non-profit one cent sales tax monies and Haswell had this to say about it.
The money they received is a portion of the 1-Cent sales tax money that non-profit organizations in the county can apply for.
Haswell also talked about the Sheridan County Commissioners historic preservation arm and what they do in Sheridan County
Ira Roadifer of the historic group said this about receiving the funds. “We’re glad to have the extra money,” Roadifer said, adding that the historic group is funded by donations and the sale of their historic books. He also mentioned the upcoming book by Leland Sanders about the once bustling town of Passaic, which was northeast of Clearmont. He said Sanders plans to be at Clearmont Day in June promoting the new book.
Clearmont Historic Group President Robert Prusak had this to add about having heat in the back room of the Center.
Prusak said that Tom Weber with Tri-County Gas gave them a good deal on the equipment and Weber and his crew donated their time to install the furnace and the auxiliary heat.
“We are so fortunate to have community members who help us out,” Prusak added.
Prusak and Roadifer, on behalf of the Clearmont Historic Group, presented Haswell with a copy of the Backward Glance, the first book the group published.

Great work, guys and gals. Ive spent the past 45 years going through there to visit my Friend Dave Hoyt, and have a few memories at a saloon or two there.
