Tongue River Valley Business Committee forms to promote area businesses
The Tongue River Valley Business Committee has been established as a new Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce committee focused on supporting the Tongue River Valley business community.
While appearing on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse, Tongue River Valley Business Committee Chair Lisa Balstad said the committee’s mission is to bring together local business owners, entrepreneurs and community leaders to collaborate, promote one another and build a thriving local economy throughout the valley.
Balstad said an effort was made to form such a committee in the past but it did not take shape. Now, with dedicated members and assistance from the chamber, the committee has come together and has already held its first event.

Chamber Chief Executive Officer Teresa Detimore said the Tongue River Valley business community is expanding, and bringing that information to the public will only strengthen the area and Sheridan County as a whole.

Balstad serves as chair, Pete Kilbride as vice chair and Cassie Morss as secretary. The group held its first event, “Hop Around the Valley,” as part of its efforts to promote collaboration and engagement among businesses in the Tongue River Valley, with more events in the planning process.
Meetings are held on the last Tuesday of each month at 8 a.m. at Ranchester Town Hall and are open to the public. While participation is open, only chamber members serving on the committee are eligible to vote on committee matters.
