Sheridan Man Sentenced in District Court for Burglary Charge
An 18-year-old Sheridan County man was sentenced in Fourth Judicial District Court Thursday for his role in burglarizing vehicles in Sheridan. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.
On April 6, 2025, Scotty Craig and two co-defendants, Logan Chivers and Robert Swaney were arrested by the Sheridan Police Department for burglarizing numerous vehicles during the early morning hours on April 6 along Spaulding Street and in the Sheridan Junior High area. At a sentencing hearing Thursday in District Court, Craig was sentenced to 3 to 5 years in prison for the charge of felony burglary, and 85 days in jail for misdemeanor interference with a peace officer with credit for time served.
District Court Judge Ben Kirven recommended Craig take part in the youthful offender treatment program through the Wyoming Department of Corrections. Judge Kirven said that once Craig successfully completes the youthful offender program, he can petition the Court for a sentence modification. Craig was ordered to pay $475 in court costs and assessments and $394 in restitution jointly and severally with the other two-defendants. His bond was exonerated and he was taken into custody of the Sheridan County Detention Center pending transfer to a facility to be determined by the Department of Corrections.
