Wyoming Community College students will pay a little bit more tuition when the new school year starts in the fall.

Last month, the Wyoming Community College Commission Board of Trustees unanimously approved a $7 per credit hour increase, from $105 to $112.

That increase is for in-state students.

Those who live in a state that borders Wyoming and attend a Wyoming Community College will pay $10 more per credit hour, and those from states not bordering the Cowboy State, are going up $21.

Sheridan College President Dr. Walter Tribley says this is the first tuition increase in approximately 6 years and normally the Commission makes this kind of decision earlier in the school year, compared to this time around.

“The commissioners decided not to make their decision on tuition increases prior to the legislative session. Had they done that, it would have given all of our colleges more time to adjust to this new rate, because we have information out there and we’ve been communicating with the students, but they postponed it to see how the legislative session came out, because there might be a need to increase it by more.”

The commission’s next meeting is scheduled to take place on June 4th and 5th at Sheridan College.
