Historical Group Will Organize Clearmont Day Parade
Everyone Loves a Parade. Especially when it is a celebration of the 250th Birthday of the United States. For the first time in 10 years, there will again be a parade for the Clearmont Day Celebration, to be held on Saturday June 27.
The Clearmont Historical Group (CHG) will organize the parade this year. CHG President Robert Prusak, at the April meeting on Monday, talked about a new addition to Clearmont Day for this year.
The theme for the parade is “Keeping America Great-One Small Town at a Time.”
There are parade entry forms available at the Clearmont Historical Center, and deadline for entries is June 15. Due to safety concerns, it is no longer allowed to throw candy or other items from the floats or vehicles or horses. One can walk alongside the parade route to hand out candy or other items.

Anyone having ideas for the parade, or to volunteer to help, can contact the center at 307-758-4685, or email Sandy Hirz at clearmonthistory@gmail.com

Sandy Hirz, Clearmont Historical Center director, reported on the CHG quilt show, saying there were 70 quilts on display, with 18 new quilters participating. There were around 170 visitors who came to view the quilts, and she said that next year’s show will include a category for quilts made by youngsters. She added that Sheridan and Buffalo quilters host summer quilting camps for young people wanting to make their own quilts.
There is a new show that is being planned for October, Hirz said.

During the past winter, the Historical Center display was ‘Pioneer Living’ and there were items on display from a pioneer living room. There will be a follow-up display showing items from a pioneer kitchen, so anyone having items to loan to the museum for that display are welcome to contact the center.
Except for those picking up their quilts, The Clearmont Historical Center will be closed for the month of April for maintenance projects. For information about hours in May, call 307-758-4685.
