New Jo Co Community Prevention Specialist Introduced to Public

The Johnson County Prevention Coalition held a special meeting Thursday in Buffalo to have a meet and greet with the county’s new prevention specialist, Sommer Reed.

Current prevention specialist Bill Hawley will be retiring this spring, and the meeting was originally scheduled to be a chance to introduce Reed, but she was unable to attend.

County Health Nurse Manager Kristin Friedrich spoke about Reed during the meeting.

The meeting was also a chance to celebrate Hawley’s accomplishments before his retirement.

He thanked the community and talked about his plans after he leaves the position.

Reed will officially take the position over on May 4.
