Buffalo’s City Council considered co-sponsoring a Level II Feasibility Study with the City of Sheridan and Sheridan Area Water Supply (SAWS) by the Wyoming Water Development Commission (WWDC) for a regional water system to utilize water from Lake DeSmet.

Vice-Mayor Myra Camino spoke on behalf of the city concerning their co-sponsorship of the study.

According to an earlier Sheridan Media story,  “the Level II Study would examine whether Lake DeSmet can support future regional water needs.”

The study “will define viable project options that could eventually advance into a Level III construction project through the commission.

It will explore available water rights and the ability to obtain them, general engineering feasibility to supply water to multiple stakeholders, estimated construction costs and long-term operations and maintenance costs to determine whether proposed projects would be sustainable at a reasonable rate for each stakeholder group.”

The council voted in favor of the co-sponsorship of the feasibility study.
