Harold Emmett Dunn, known affectionately as Harold to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2024, at the age of 74. There will be a private family interment at a later date in Greybull, Wyoming. Born on September 30, 1949, in Greybull, Wyoming, Harold’s early years in the rugged beauty of the West instilled in him a profound appreciation for nature and the simple joys of life. His final days were spent in Buffalo, Wyoming, surrounded by the love and warmth of his family.
Harold was a graduate of Buffalo High School and attended Northwest College. He worked for over 20 years at the Buffalo Bulletin and learned the printing trade from Jack Williams and Jim Hicks. His coworkers were his teachers and family. Harold’s education laid a journey through life that was marked by his enduring love for his wife, Linda, with whom he shared not only his heart but also his entrepreneurial spirit. Together, they purchased and built-up Clear Creek Printers, a testament to Harold’s self-taught expertise and unwavering dedication. The business didn’t just serve the community; it became a part of it, much like Harold himself.
Harold’s quest for knowledge laid a foundation for a lifetime of learning and curiosity. His hands, which were rarely still, matched his intellect. Harold was a master of woodworking, creating pieces that were as functional as they were beautiful. Fishing and photography were also a passion, offering him both solitude and a connection to the great outdoors he so loved. Even yard work became a pleasure in Harold’s hands, his property a showcase of his diligence and care.
Harold’s legacy is carried on by his beloved family: his wife, Linda; his daughter, Melissa Propp; his son, Charles (MaryAnn) Dunn; and his cherished grandchildren, Riley (Valarie) Dunn, Samuel Dunn, Makenna Dunn, and Bill (Kaycee) Scherger. Each of them reflects a facet of Harold’s character, from his kindness to his gentle spirit.
Those who knew Harold will remember him as the epitome of handiness, always ready to lend a hand or share his expertise. His kind demeanor and gentle presence made him a friend to many and a pillar of his community.
Harold’s life was one of quiet achievement and unspoken heroism. He was a man who built a life not just for himself but for the people he loved. In every role he played—husband, father, grandfather, friend, and businessman—Harold Emmett Dunn was the very embodiment of the words handy, kind, and gentle. All who had the privilege of knowing him will deeply miss but lovingly remember him.
