Funeral services for John Korp, 88-year-old Sheridan, Wyoming resident who passed away Thursday, July 30th, 2026, at the Westview Healthcare Center in Sheridan, Wyoming, will be held Thursday, August 6th at 10:00 a.m. at the Harness Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mark King officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home chapel on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Interment will be in Willow Grove Cemetery with graveside services to follow the funeral. Donations in John’s memory may be made to the Dayton Search and Rescue at 600 Broadway in Dayton, Wyoming 82836. Online condolences may be made at www.harnessfuneralhome.com. John specifically requested that there were NO suits at his funeral. There will be a reception following the funeral and graveside service at Bomber Mountain Civic Center in Buffalo.

John Lewis Korp was born on January 8, 1938, to Frank and Cecilia Korp in a cabin on Clear Creek in Buffalo, Wyoming. He moved with his family to Arvada-Clearmont where he attended schools, graduating from Arvada High School with the class of 1956. After high school he moved to Oklahoma where he worked at Bartlett Collins Glass Factory. He was married on August 29, 1958, in Sapulpa, Oklahoma to Kathryn Scott and they made their home in Sapulpa until 1960 when they moved to Arvada, Wyoming. They lived in Arvada until 1964 when they moved to Sheridan. They moved to Dayton, Wyoming, in 1970, and John worked at the V.A. Hospital in Sheridan. He retired in 1989 and continued living in Dayton. Kathryn passed away in August of 2010, and John continued living in Dayton. He entered the Westview Healthcare Center in Sheridan in 2018 where he lived until his death.

John was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting, fishing and was an accomplished gardener. He was an avid coin collector and had an impressive collection. John truly loved watching college basketball and checking his brackets during tournament times. He is survived by two sons, Jeffrey Korp and his wife Ranae of Dayton, Wyoming and Russell Korp and his wife Janet of Sheridan; three daughters, Cheryl Guy and her husband Mike of Sheridan, Brenna Korp of Douglas, Wyoming and Valerie Peck and her husband Mike of Worland , Wyoming; two brothers Ken Korp and his wife Shirley of Clearmont and Vincent Korp and his wife Cindy of Sheridan; eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents his wife and two sisters.
