Compass Speaks on Child Abuse Awareness Month
Child Abuse Prevention Month is observed each April across the US to raise awareness about the importance of protecting children and supporting families. Compass Center for Families uses the month to highlight prevention efforts, educate the public and encourage community involvement.
Compass Center for Families Executive Director Tiffany Resser and Marketing Coordinator Aundrea McKenzie made an appearance on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse and spoke on strengthening families before a crisis occurs, including addressing local challenges such as housing instability, transportation barriers, mental health concerns and financial stress.
McKenzie spoke on the Parent Enrichment Program as a primary means to prevention.

The Parent Enrichment Program provides support and parent enrichment opportunities for all families. According to McKenzie, this program is evidence based and Compass uses curriculums designed for all families that meets families where they are and helps them grow.
Community members are encouraged to take part by learning the signs of abuse, supporting local families and volunteering. To learn more, click here.
Sheridan Media will have more on Compass Center for Families’ programs in future stories.
