Buffalo’s City Council discussed their 2026-27 budget during their meeting this week, with councilman Mike Madden asking if a proposed amendment of $10,000 had been included in the city’s $18.4 million budget they were considering on third and final reading.

The funds were to go to Sheridan College in Johnson County as a starter, along with matching from the college for a scholarship fund for students from Johnson County to use for their education.

The council discussed the city’s proposed contribution, with Councilman Mike Madden making a motion.

The motion died by no second being offered.

The council then voted to approve the city’s $18,404,518 budget on third and final reading, including the $10,000 for the SCJC Scholarship fund, on a split vote, with Madden voting against.
