A chart published in the FBI's Internet Crime Report 2025 - Chart describes counts and losses for those reporting as aged 60+ from 2018 to 2025.

Range has alerted Sheridan Media they will host an Internet Safety for Seniors Luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 24  at The Hub on Smith, 211 Smith St.

According to Range, lunch will be provided during a presentation by a Range representative who will discuss common internet safety issues seniors may encounter and offer practical tips for staying safe online. Topics will include recognizing online scams, protecting personal information and safely using email, social media and internet browsing services.

“At Range, we believe staying connected should also mean staying safe,” Chief Marketing Officer Jason Wille said. “As more seniors use the internet to communicate with family, manage their finances, and access important services, it’s critical they have the tools and knowledge to protect themselves. These lunches are one way we can give back to the communities we serve and help our seniors feel more confident online.”

This event is part of a broader initiative by Range to provide internet safety education at senior centers throughout Wyoming and Montana within the company’s service areas. The effort is designed to help seniors feel more confident and secure while using online resources.

According to the FBI’s 2025 IC3 Annual Report,  Americans aged 60 and older reported over $7 billion in losses to internet scams, an approximately 60% increase from 2024. In comparison, citizens in their 30s and 40s reported over $4 billion in losses to the same type of internet crimes. The FBI notes that many scams and losses go unreported. Due to this lack of reporting amounts lost are estimated to be much higher.
