Sheridan Man Arraigned for Aggravated Assault and Battery

At 1:43 pm on May 9, 2026, the Sheridan County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a fight in the area of Fort Road and Dana Avenue. Once on scene, law enforcement received information from eye witnesses that a large male with long hair was beating, kicking, and stomping on the head of another male. The assault left the victim unresponsive and unconscious and the injuries caused his brain to swell and were considered life threatening. The suspect, Darek Black Wolf was located at a residence on Mydland Road shortly after the alleged assault. He was placed under arrest and booked into the Sheridan County Detention Center.

Black Wolf, at an arraignment hearing Thursday in District Court, pleaded not guilty to one count of aggravated assault and battery. District Court Judge Darci Phillips scheduled a three-day jury trial to begin October 14. A pretrial conference will take place September 10 at 10:30 am. Black Wolf’s bond was continued under the same terms and conditions that were previously sent in Circuit Court. He is currently being housed in the Sheridan County Detention Center on a $7,500 cash only bond. Aggravated assault and battery is a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.
