Morning Sports: February 16, 2026
There is less than 1 month to go before the end of the Wyoming High School winter sports season, and that means championship time is approaching.
Sheridan HS Basketball: The Sheridan boys and girls went a combined 4-0 on their road trip against Cheyenne South and Laramie.
For the Broncs, they have secured the #1 seed for the upcoming 4A East Regional Tournament, with 2 games remaining in the regular season.
The Lady Broncs can get the #3 seed if they win their remaining 2 games.
Both Sheridan teams play 1 game this week and that is on Friday at Campbell County.
Big Horn/Tongue River/Arvada-Clearmont HS Basketball: The Big Horn boys won both games on the road against Sundance and Moorcroft.
The girls lost the first game and won the second.
The Rams and Lady Rams are scheduled to close out the regular season this coming Friday at home vs. Wright.
Tongue River split games on Friday at home vs. Wright, with the Lady Eagles getting the win.
TR plays 2 games this week.
The teams play Friday at Moorcroft and Saturday at home vs. Sundance.
Arvada-Clearmont dropped both ends of a boys and girls double-header on Friday at Hulett.
The Panthers and Lady Panthers will conclude the regular season this week on Friday at home vs. Kaycee and on Saturday at home vs. Midwest.
Johnson County HS Basketball: The Buffalo boys won at Cody and at home vs. Burns, while the girls split games, winning the one at home.
The Bison and Lady Bison next play on Friday at home vs. Douglas.
The Kaycee boys won on Friday at home vs. Ten Sleep, then both the boys and girls dropped games on Saturday at Hanna.
The Buckaroos and Lady Bucs play a makeup game tomorrow at home vs. Hulett, then close out the regular season with 2 road games, which are at Midwest on Thursday and at Arvada-Clearmont on Friday.

Sheridan/Johnson County HS Wrestling: Both the Sheridan boys and girls were victorious in their home finale on Friday vs. Campbell County.
This weekend is the regional meets.
The Sheridan boys will be at the 4A East Regional Meet at Thunder Basin on Friday.
The Tongue River boys will be at the 2A East Regional Meet at Wright, also on Friday.
The Buffalo boys will be at the 3A East Regional Meet at Glenrock, in a 1-day meet on Friday.
All of the girls teams will compete on Friday and Saturday at Douglas.
Sheridan HS Nordic Ski: Sheridan hosted its lone home meet of the season on Cutler Hill.
Friday’s competition was a team relay race, and Saturday was more individual competition.
Kayley Alicke of Sheridan finished 2nd in the girls race, missing 1st by 0.4 seconds.

This week is an off week from competition.
The state meet is on Friday and Saturday, February 27th and 28th.
It was originally supposed to be in Lander, but due to issues with snow, the meet has been moved to Pinedale.
Sheridan/Johnson County HS Indoor Track and Field: Sheridan, Big Horn, Tongue River and Buffalo were all at another meet in Gillette this past weekend.
This week is the big regional meet, on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, February 19th, 20th and 21st.
It’s the annual Simplot Games in Pocatello, ID on the campus of Idaho State University.
Sheridan Hawks Junior Hockey: The Sheridan Hawks picked up 2 big wins on the road this past weekend, at Helena and at Bozeman, to add some cushion room on their 1st place hold in the NA3HL Frontier Division.
This week is an off week from competition.
The team is back in action on Friday and Saturday, February 27th and 28th at Cody, and then return home to close out the regular season on March 6th and 7th, also vs. Cody.
University of Wyoming Men’s and Women’s Basketball: The Wyoming Cowboys lost Round 2 of the Border War this past Saturday at Colorado State 79-68.
It was a tale of 2 halves as the brown and gold shot 50% in the first 20 minutes, and only 32% after that.
CSU shot 54% and 70% respectively.
The Rams also found more ways to get to the free throw line as they were 25 of 30 from the charity stripe, while the Pokes were only 5 of 8.
Damarion Dennis led UW with 21 points.
Khaden Bennett put in 13, Nasir Meyer added in 12 and Leland Walker contributed with 11.
The Cowboys are now 13-12 on the season and have a 4-10 record in the Mountain West Conference.
The team is next scheduled to play tomorrow at home vs. Fresno State.
The Wyoming Cowgirls had a 3 point lead at home vs. Boise State back on Saturday with 2:56 to go, but could not score after that, and the opposition got the winning bucket with 14 seconds remaining, to make the final score 56-54.
Henna Sandvik had a double-double for UW with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Melene Pedersen added in a dozen for the cause.
The Cowgirls are now 9-16 on the season and have a 6-10 record in the conference.
The team has the midweek off from competition and are scheduled to host Round 2 of the Border War on Saturday vs. Colorado State.
