Morning Sports: September 2, 2026

Big Horn HS Football: It may have been a scrimmage last week, but the Big Horn High School Football team treated it like it was a real game.

The Rams and Cody played regular football for the first half.

In the second half, both teams had one possession, then players worked on some situational plays and gave the JV’s some playing time.

BH Head Coach Kirk McLaughlin says experience will lead the way this season, and so far it’s showing.

The Rams were originally scheduled to play at Lovell this Friday, but according to Coach McLaughlin, the opposition backed out of that game.

Big Horn will now travel to Wheatland on Friday to play Pine Bluffs who is a 9-man team.

Kickoff is scheduled for 1pm.

This game was thrown together 2 weeks ago, when PB’s original opponent for the week, Shoshoni, folded on the season.

When BH has the ball, teams will play 11-man, and when the opposition has possession, it will be 9-man style.

Tongue River HS Football: The final score for the Tongue River High School football team’s first game was not what they wanted, but some good came out of it.

The Eagles lost against Pinedale 50-21.

Those 21 points are more points than what TR scored in any single game that they played in last year and it’s the most points they’ve scored in a season opening game in 3 years.

Head Coach Steve Hanson says despite the lack of experience on this year’s team, a lot of good things happened.

Tongue River is scheduled to play this coming Friday at Thermopolis.

Kickoff is at 6pm.

Colorado Rockies Baseball: The Colorado Rockies won last night at home vs. Baltimore 4-2.

Adael Amador got the scoring started with a solo home run, and then TJ Rumfield provided a 2-run shot to open up some breathing room.

The Rocks and Orioles are scheduled to play the rubber game of their 3-game series today, starting at 1:10pm.
