Tongue River at Big Horn Football: Conference play in Class 2A starts this week and first up, it’s the Sheridan County rivalry as Tongue River visits Big Horn tomorrow for a Thursday night contest.

When it comes to putting the schedules together for the season, the Wyoming High School Activities Association arranges the conference games as far as where they will be played and in what week.

The teams can schedule whether their game will be a Thursday, Friday or Saturday contest.

Rams Head Coach Kirk McLaughlin says there are pros and cons to playing the main rival both early and later in the season.

Eagles Head Coach Steve Hanson says sometimes it is better to get that big game out of the way and over with.

Kickoff tomorrow at BH is scheduled for 7pm.

Sheridan/Johnson County HS Golf: This is the week that golfers prepare for next week’s state meet.

Sheridan is at the 4A East Qualifying meet, which is today and tomorrow at Gillette.

The top 4 teams qualify for the state meet, regardless of where each golfer placed individually.

A golfer whose team did not place in the top 4, can still qualify for the state meet, provided he/she finished in the top 20.

The 4A state meet is next week Friday and Saturday in Evanston.

Buffalo and Tongue River will both be at the 3A East Conference Meet in Douglas, which is also today and tomorrow.

The 3A State Meet is in Torrington.

Meanwhile, Big Horn will be on the course at a 2-day meet in Wright on Friday and Saturday.

Colorado Rockies Baseball: The Colorado Rockies lost the first game of a 3-game series yesterday at the New York Yankees 5-3.

Adael Amador hit a solo home run in 3rd inning, and Hunter Goodman hit a 2-run shot to try to fuel a 9th inning comeback, but it was not enough.

The Rocks and Yankees are scheduled to play each other again today starting at 5:05pm.
