Morning Sports: January 27, 2025

Sheridan HS Basketball: Sheridan County High School Basketball teams went a combined 9-7 in games played this past weekend.
The Sheridan boys lost their first game of the season back on Friday at Laramie, but recovered to beat Cheyenne South and in the process, gave Coach Jeff Martini win #151.
He now has more wins than any other boys basketball coach in school history.
Meanwhile, the Sheridan girls won both of their road games this past weekend.
Both the Broncs and Lady Broncs play at Campbell County on Friday and host Thunder Basin on Saturday.
Tongue River/Big Horn/Arvada-Clearmont HS Basketball: Tongue River visited 3A Newcastle and hosted Wright over the weekend, with the Lady Eagles winning both games and the Eagles dropping both contests.
TR is scheduled to visit Moorcroft this coming Friday and host Greybull on Saturday.
The Big Horn boys won on Friday at home vs. Moorcroft, but lost on Saturday at Sundance.
The BH girls won both games.
Both the Rams and Lady Rams are scheduled to play on Friday at Wright and on Saturday at home vs. Rocky Mountain.
Arvada-Clearmont lost both games on Friday at Upton.
On Saturday, the girls won at home vs. Hulett, while the boys did not.
A-C is next scheduled to play tomorrow at home vs. the Campbell County JV team, Friday at Kaycee, and on Saturday the boys have a home game vs. Ten Sleep.

Sheridan County HS Wrestling: The Sheridan boys placed 4th and the girls were 3rd in the team standings, at the Moorcroft Mixer event this past weekend.
Keegan Rager, Kelten Crow and Becca Oetken all finished 1st in their respective weight classes.
This weekend Sheridan will have a dual meet at Natrona, followed by the 2-day Ron Thon Invitational at Riverton.
The girls will compete on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, while the boys go Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Tongue River is scheduled to compete on Saturday at a tournament at Hardin, MT.
Sheridan HS Boys Swimming: Sheridan won their home finale on Friday in a dual vs. Kelly Walsh and then placed 4th out of 8 teams at Natrona County on Saturday.
Junior Ben Forsythe set a new school record in the 100 meter freestyle race.
The Broncs are next scheduled to compete this coming Friday and Saturday at Gillette.
Sheridan HS Nordic Skiing: Sheridan was at Lander this past weekend for a 2-day event.
Kayley Alicke placed 1st in Friday’s competition and was 3rd on Saturday.
The Broncs and Lady Broncs have this weekend off from team competition and will next race on Friday and Saturday, February 7th and 8th at Casper.
Sheridan County HS Indoor Track and Field: All 3 Sheridan County High School teams competed at Gillette on Saturday.
The Sheridan boys placed 1st and the girls were 3rd in the team standings.
Sheridan Hawks Junior Hockey: The Sheridan Hawks split home games this past weekend vs. Rapid City.
The team won 4-3 in overtime on Friday, then lost on Saturday by a final score of 5-4, losing in a shootout 1-0.
The Hawks are still in 2nd place in the NA3HL’s Frontier Division and have this weekend off from competition.
Sheridan is scheduled to be back in action on Friday and Saturday, February 7th and 8th at home vs. Great Falls.
Sheridan Hawks Amateur Hockey: The Sheridan Lady Hawks went 3-1 in their road games this past weekend.
The team won both games at Jackson by scores of 5-1 and 5-zip.
They then split games at Pinedale, losing the first game 5-3 and winning the second game 2-nothing.
Sheridan is now 15-1 on the season and the team will play in their home finale this coming Saturday and Sunday vs. Miles City.
As for the Sheridan Hawk boys team, they will make the road trip this coming Friday, Saturday and Sunday to Jackson and Pinedale.
University of Wyoming Basketball: The Wyoming Cowboys lost on Saturday at San Jose State 67-58.
The Pokes only shot 33% from the field and were 6 of 31 from 3-point land.
None of the starters had a good game and it ended up being Scottie Ebube leading the way with 22 points off of the bench.
UW is now 10-10 on the season with a 3-6 record in the Mountain West Conference.
The Brown and Gold next play tomorrow at home vs. Fresno State.
The Wyoming Cowgirls lost at home on Saturday vs. Colorado State 61-56.
Like the ‘boys, the ladies didn’t shoot all that well either, hitting just 34% from the field and were 4 of 26 on their 3-point tries.
Allyson Fertig had quite a game as she had a double-double, 34 points and 15 rebounds.
Malene Pedersen had a dozen points of her own.
UW is now 11-9 on the season, with a 5-3 record in conference.
The team next plays Wednesday at San Jose State.
Denver Nuggets Basketball: The Denver Nuggets lost on Saturday at Minnesota 133-104.
The Nuggets next play today at Chicago starting at 6pm.
Colorado Avalanche Hockey: The Colorado Avalanche split road games this past weekend.
The team lost on Saturday at Boston 3-1, and recovered to win yesterday at the New York Rangers 5-4, scoring the winning goal with 15 seconds to go.
The Avs next play tomorrow at the New York Islanders.
