Funeral services for Roberta Heppner, 86 year old Buffalo resident who passed away Thursday morning at the Amie Holt Care Center in Buffalo, will be held Wednesday, February 5^th at 2:00 p.m. at the Summit Wesleyan Church with Pastor William Dunlap officiating. Visitation will be held from the Harness Funeral Home Chapel in Buffalo on Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until noon.  Interment will be in Willow Grove Cemetery with graveside services to follow the funeral. Donations in Roberta’s memory may be made to Home Health or the Amie Holt Care Center in care of the Harness Funeral Home at 351 N. Adams in Buffalo. Roberta Jean Heppner was born on June 1, 1933, in Sheridan, Wyoming to Robert and Dorothy Barton. She grew up and went to school in Buffalo, going to elementary school at the Indian Creek Country School and attended Buffalo High School. Unsuspectingly, Roberta met her husband Robert Heppner when he was passing through Buffalo on his way to South Dakota from Washington State to visit his family. They married in Buffalo on Nov. 5, 1949, and they made their home in Buffalo.  She was an amazing soul and used that loving compassion in many ways throughout her life, including being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and sister, and working as a Certified Nurses’ Assistant, home interiors saleswoman, and clerk at The Office supply store in Buffalo.

Roberta used that same, admirable soul when her husband, Robert, worked in the oilfield throughout the states and she made a home with her children no matter where they were living. When Robert decided to start working on oil rigs overseas, she bravely packed up her life with her two youngest children and left for Penang, Malaysia, while leaving the other children behind to forge their own way as adults. While spending time in many foreign countries throughout Asia, the Middle East, and South America, Roberta and Robert gathered many people who they considered family until the day they left this world. They continued to gather people and bring them into their family for the rest of their life. Robert passed away in March of 2016 after they enjoyed 67 years of marriage.  Roberta continued living in Buffalo until her death.

She was an avid bowler and a Cub Scout Leader.  Her passion was her family and she especially loved following her grand kid’s activities. Roberta is survived by her children and their spouses: Chuck and Sally Heppner of Dolores, Colorado; Joanne Heppner of Buffalo, Wyoming; Val Wintermute and Lee Strong of Gillette, Wyoming; George Wintermute of Buffalo, Wyoming; Carolyn and Bruce Penticoff of Buffalo, Wyoming; Loretta and Rick McIntosh of Buffalo, Wyoming; Bobby and Kelli Heppner of Buffalo, Wyoming; and Coleen and Mike Winterholler of Gillette, Wyoming. She is also survived by her younger brother, Bruce and Carol Barton of Sheridan, Wyoming; thirteen grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, her parents, three sisters, one brother, one great-grandson, and her best friend, Janice Lenzen.
