Raymond Cade Usher

Raymond Cade Usher, resident of Big Horn, Wyoming, passed away on August 16, 2026, at the age of 85.

Raymond was born in 1940, in North Carolina to parents Howard Gibson and Lillie Susan (Carter) Usher.  He served in the United States Army going to combat in the Dominican Republic and later serving as a pilot in Vietnam. He retired as a CW04 in 1981 receiving many Letters of Accommodation and medals during his military career. He retired in Dharan, Iraq and went to work for ARAMCO for a few years before returning to the states. He was then employed as chief pilot at Med Center Air in Charlotte, North Carolina, an air ambulance program. He also flew Rusty Wallace’s NASCAR team to races during his years spent in Charlotte. Ray enjoyed horses especially raising them from the day they were born, guns including reloading and shooting skeet, and motorcycles. He had a green thumb and loved to share his garden produce with family, friends and neighbors.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 39 years Geraldine (Geri) Usher and children by a previous marriage, Donna Usher King, Susan Jane Usher and Michelle Rae Phillips, grandchildren Taylor-Rae Lockridge, Anna Marie King and Cayden Usher McNeill, great-grandchildren Porter Yates Lockridge and Marley Ray Lockridge all of North Carolina. He is also survived by his brother Robert Lynn Usher of San Diego, CA and sisters Martha Elaine Spivey and Carolyn Jean Cronrath, also of North Carolina.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Marilyn Jane Usher.

A Memorial Service is at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at Bethesda Worship Center with Pastor Scott Lee officiating, and a reception will follow in the fellowship hall.
