Legislative Leadership Says No to June Special Session
There will be no special session of the Wyoming Legislature later this month. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.
Wyoming Legislative Leadership announced that lawmakers have completed the work that needed to be accomplished during last month’s special session in response to the economic impacts of COVID-19 on the state, and that there is no need at this time for a special session of the Legislature. Wyoming Senate President Drew Perkins and House Speaker Steve Harshman released a joint letter to members of the Legislature Thursday that stated that an anticipated five-day special session tentatively planned for late June is no longer necessary. Legislative leadership did not rule out the possibility of holding another special session later in the year.
Last month, the Wyoming Legislature, for the first time since 2004, held a special session in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Legislature approved three pieces of legislation that outlined how to spend the $1.25 billion that Wyoming received in federal CARES Act funding.
