Sheridan/Johnson County Unemployment Numbers Drop Nearly 1% In April 2025
While Wyoming’s unemployment rate dropped very little from March to April, the North-Central part of the state is ahead of the trend.
The Wyoming Department of Workforce Services says the statewide seasonally adjusted unemployment rate decreased from 3.4% in March 2025 to 3.3% in April.
The rate was at 3.0% in April of last year.
The US Seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for April was at 4.2%, which is unchanged from the previous month, and was at 3.9% in April 2024.
Sheridan County’s unemployment rate dropped from 3.7% in March to 2.9% in April, while Johnson County dropped from 3.1% to 2.2% and is the lowest unemployment rate in the Cowboy State.
Both counties were at 2.8% in April 2024.
The Department says most counties in Wyoming followed their normal seasonal patterns for this time of year and there were seasonal job gains in construction, professional & business services, and other sectors.
The highest unemployment rate in Wyoming was in Big Horn County at 3.9%.
Non-farm employment in the Cowboy State increased by 4,900 jobs from April of last year to April of this year.
