Unemployment Numbers In Sheridan And Johnson Counties Decrease Slightly In September 2023
Unemployment trends from August to September this year followed their normal seasonal pattern and didn’t change much both in North-Central Wyoming and in the Cowboy State, but there’s a notable decrease from this time last year.
The Wyoming State Department of Workforce Services says the statewide unemployment rate held steady at 2.9% from August 2023 to September, and it’s down from 3.8% one year ago.
The U.S. seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for September 2023 was at 3.8%, which is unchanged from the previous month, and up from 3.5% in September of 2022.
Both Sheridan and Johnson Counties’ unemployment rate dropped slightly.
From August to September, Sheridan County dropped from 2.4% to 2.3%, while Johnson County dropped from 2.5% to 2.3%.
Both counties were at 3.0% in September of 2022.
Teton County had the lowest unemployment rate in Wyoming in September of 2023 at 1.5%, while Sublette and Sweetwater Counties tied for the highest rate at 2.9%.
Nonfarm employment in the Cowboy State increased by 7,000 jobs from September 2022 to September 2023.
